an American whiskey distilled mainly from fermented corn mash.
[American English < Bourbon County, Kentucky, where originally manufactured]
Bour|bon2 «BUR buhn; occasionally BUR buhn», noun.
1. a member of the last royal family of France, ruling from 1589 to 1792, from 1814 to 1815, and from 1815 to 1848. Members of the family also ruled in Spain, Sicily, and parts of Italy, especially Naples. The Bourbons were in power in France when the French Revolution began.
2. a person who clings to old ideas and opposes any change; extreme conservative; reactionary.
